Employment Policy

The Australian Business Party believes that productivity growth must be stimulated whilst containing the cost of labour costs. Wages should adjust to reflect labour market needs. Minimum wages should be kept to offer more members of society jobs. Australia needs to adopt a system that encourages people to work and not remain entrapped by the social security system. This would mean that people would either have to be trained in areas where there is a skills shortage or be allocated skills training positions in small business to further develop their job training. The needs of industry must be met to create jobs. It is up to the Government of the day to ensure that proper education and training is offered to the public to meet the growing demands of each industry. Students in all high schools should be offered opportunities to learn about the different job prospects in different industries and the possibility to take up training opportunities whilst at school. We support the set up of onsite training centres in Australian high schools. The Australian Business Party would like to see nationally endorsed training packages that meet the standards of all states on a national basis. This would allow people to relocate whenever required and be able to work interstate when there is a need elsewhere.
